Job Title: Maintenance Assistant X3 Peromnes Grade: P12 (R 279,000.10 CTC per year) Location: Head Office: Pretoria Report Line: Manager: Facilities General Purpose of Job: Provide general and routine building maintenance within the Facilities Management business unit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operation Processes Perform general and routine maintenance of buildings within the Facilities Management business unit. Ensure proper and accurate registration, storage and custody of equipment and tools. Conduct investigations, evaluations and restorations on identified equipment malfunctions Carry out minor repairs and services on all plumbing, mechanical, general construction, electrical equipment and appliances Perform tasks related to moving offices, including but not limited to installing furniture; shopfitting, repair of doors, locks, handles, windows; replace ceiling tiles and carpets; general painting work Perform basic inspections and repairs on all air conditioning related equipment. Conduct inspections and report on all firefighting and access equipment; fire extinguishers, hose reels, fire hydrants, fire detectors and access control equipment Quality management Ensuring quality of work and timely completion of all requests. Follow and adhere to standard operating procedures Escalate/report identified damage/impediments Maintain an accurate fill system. Stakeholder Relations Ensure reported queries are referred to the Manager – Facilities unit and updates are provided to operations and other support functions Communicate with Manager: Facilities and relevant user departments to address queries and resolve any issues that arise. People Management Compile and submit your own Personal Development Plan Participate in training courses, workshops, etc. relevant and applicable, as needed/directed Contribute to knowledge sharing or exchange activities. Assist in supervising, directing, inspecting, or guiding the work of others. The responsibility to meet performance standards.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

grade 12 Certificate in built environment will be a plus. Valid driver’s license (Code 10/C1) Minimum 1 year related experience as a general assistant in the maintenance or facilities management environment. Basic training in hand tools, electrical and mechanical equipment. The Council for Geoscience is committed to equity and diversity in employment.
