Human Resources Assistant – Cape Town In partnership with the Social Employment Fund (SEF) Nal’ibali (isiXhosa for “here’s the story”) is a national campaign for reading to enjoy. It seeks to awaken and embed a culture of reading in South Africa, so that reading, writing and sharing stories, in all South African languages, is part of everyday life. Job Overview: The Human Resources Assistant will be required to manage all payroll related functions for all employees on the SEF project. Ensure that all payroll payments and approvals are made in accordance with the policies, processes and procedures required by the IDC. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the management of the human resources records of the employees, including the management of leaves of absence. Be the primary contact for any payroll-related queries/support. Key Responsibilities: Payroll, Benefits and Statutory Requirements • Manage and administer payroll documentation • Ensure employees are paid accurately and on time • Manage and process disability/COIDA filings and claims • Assist with monthly FIU filings/declarations • Prepare UI19 and salary schedules for those who leave. • Administration and reporting license • Liaison between Nal’ibali and the IDC Recruitment/General Human Resources Support • Selection of CV and pre-selection of candidates • Schedule and conduct interviews • Reference checks incl. MIE Check/SAPS Tracking • Schedule orientation • Creation of employee files with relevant employment details • Add all new employees to the Nal’ibali app and check their documents Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge/Skills Required: • A human resources diploma (3-year college degree) or any other related degree • Minimum 1-2 years experience in a human resources environment • Extensive knowledge of SA legislation and policies that regulate human resources in work place • Experience in the NGO/development advantage sector • Able to participate in meaningful negotiations and resolutions • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices • Show excellent organizational skills • Good time management skills • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment • Possess conflict management and decision-making skills to ensure that employees compliance • Computer literacy Criteria: • Must be unemployed and available immediately • Between the ages of 18-60 • Must be based in Cape Town If you meet the above requirements and criteria, please email your motivation letter and CV to work@nalibali.org with your first and last name, job title in the subject line (e.g. Thandi Nkosi, Assistant human Resources).
